Maria Maksakova is an opera artist whose family legacy is well known: a granddaughter of the renowned Soviet mezzo-soprano, her name sake Maria Petrovna Maksakova Sr., and a daughter of the People’s Artist of Russian Federation Lyudmila Maksakova, soprano Maria Maksakova is an opera singer, a TV host, and a founder of the charity organization, Masha Music.

A representative of the famous artistic dynasty, Maria Maksakova was graduated from the Gnessin Academy of Music and began performing at the leading Russian theaters – Bolshoi Theatre, Mariinsky Theatre, Helikon Opera, Novaya Opera. Since 2010, Maksakova has been performing on the world famous opera stages in Vienna, Tokyo, London, Helsinki, Baden-Baden.

Maria Maksakova is the laureate of several prestigious awards. In 2002 Maksakova was among the Yelena Obraztsova Young Opera Singers Competition‘s winners and a year later she joined the Bolshoi Theater to perform Oscar (Un ballo in maschera by Giuseppe Verdi) and Musetta (La Boheme by Giacomo Puccini). In 2006 she joined the Moscow Helikon-Opera to perform the roles of The Princess in Antonín Dvořák’s Rusalka, Rosina in II Barbiere di Siviglia, Susanna in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro, among others.

In 2000, Maria Maksakova took part in the Moscow Opera Festival and won the Best Debut Prize for her interpretation of the part of Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia. The same year Evgeny Kolobov invited her to the Moscow Novaya Opera Theater where (2000–2006) she sang Ophelia (Hamlet by Ambroise Thomas), Snegurochka (The Snow Maiden by Rimsky-Korsakov), Linda di Chamounix (Bravissimo, Gaetano Donizetti divertimento), Kseniya (Boris Godunov by Musorgsky), Zinaida (First Love by Andrei Golovin), Leila (Les Pecheurs de Perles by Georges Bizet), to name a few.

In 2011 Maksakova joined the Mariinsky Opera Company where she sang Dorabella (Cosi fan tutte), Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro), Frugola (Il tabarro), The Composer (Ariadne auf Naxos), Nicklausse (The Tales of Hoffmann), and Eboli (Don Carlos).

Maria Maksakova is a TV presenter and co-host (from January 2010, alongside Svyatoslav Belza) of the Romantika Romansa series on the Russian Kultura TV. She appeared in several movies (including The Barber of Siberia by Nikita Mikhalkov), and worked as a model. In 2002 she was selected as a beauty ambassador by the internationally renowned beauty brand Lancôme.

Maria’s three solo albums have been released by the Universal Music Group International, the world’s largest record label. Her solo albums, arias, folk and art songs are also available on iTunes.

Maria Maksakova holds German and Russian citizenships and currently resides in Ukraine. She is a guest soloist at the National Opera of Ukraine and opera theaters in Kharkiv and Dnipro. In December 2019, she debuted at Carnegie Hall, New York City, USA.
