Billy Huyler

Praised by OperaWire as having a voice that is “focused and indicative of substantial vocal agility,” baritone Billy Huyler was selected as an apprentice artist with Sarasota Opera for the fall 2019-2020 season where he covered the role of Usciere in Rigoletto. On our roster, Billie Huyler is a member of the Emerging Artists Program.

Billie Huyler received his Masters of Music in Voice from the Manhattan School of Music and his Bachelor of Music Education in Voice from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music.

He returns to Sarasota Opera for the winter season where he will sing in La bohème, Roméo et Juliette, L’elisir d’amore, and La Wally. Last summer he sang the role of Papageno in Die Zauberflöte at the Estates Theatre in Prague, Czech Republic. With the Manhattan School of Music Opera Theater he performed the roles of the Baron de Montefiascone in Isouard’s Cendrillon, the Badger/Parson in The Cunning Little Vixen, and Count Carnero in Der Zigeunerbaron.

With Indiana University Opera Theater he performed the roles of Commander Harbison in South Pacific and Bill Bobstay in H.M.S. Pinafore. Other opera credits include Schaunard in La bohème, Le Fauteuil/L’Arbre in
L’enfant et les sortilèges, and Martel in Offenbach’s Un mari à la porte. He can be heard on Albany Record’s recording of Isouard’s Cendrillon as the Baron de Montefiascone.
