Praised for his “laserlike precision in a role that demanded nothing less” (Tampa Bay Times) and a voice that “he can deliver…all the way to the parking lot” (Archikulture Digest), tenor Samuel Hall has made a career on the concert stage, in musical theater, operetta, and opera.
In 2019, Sam Hall debuted in three roles. He performed Nadir (Les pêcheurs de perles) with Opera Tampa, Turiddu (Cavalleria rusticana) with the Sarasota Festival of Vocal Arts, and B. F. Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly) with St. Petersburg Opera.
In 2018, Sam made his role debut as the title character in Gounod’s Faust with St. Petersburg Opera, followed by covering the roles of Des Grieux (Manon Lescaut) and Pollione (Norma) as a Studio Artist with Sarasota Opera. He also had debuts with Opera Tampa as Malcolm (Macbeth), Mid Ohio Opera as Riccardo (Un ballo in maschera), and Opera Orlando as Spalanzani (Les contes d’Hoffmann) in addition to concert work across Florida and in Kentucky.
Other performance credits include Giovanni in Daniel Catán’s La hija de Rappaccini for Opera Naples, Benvolio (Roméo et Juliette) with Opera Grand Rapids, Prince Karl Franz in Orlando Light Opera’s The Student Prince, Don Curzio in The Marriage of Figaro with Opera Columbus, and Gherardo (Gianni Schicchi), King Kaspar (Amahl and the Night Visitors), and Nelson Deadly (Too Many Sopranos), as well as covering the role of Canio (Pagliacci), all with Opera Project Columbus. Additionally, Sam has covered the roles of Calàf (Turandot), Don José (Carmen), Manrico (Il Trovatore), and Hoffmann (Les contes d’Hoffmann) for St. Petersburg Opera.
In addition to his operatic roles, Sam played Monsieur Thénardier in Mansfield Renaissance Theater’s production of Les Misérables, was the tenor soloist in Verdi’s Requiem with the Community Church of Vero Beach, Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony with the New Albany Symphony, and performed excerpts from Madama Butterfly with the Tampa Bay Symphony.
